We Don’t Need No Education: Kid Couture

High end designers dabbled in kid couture this year with whimsical, fashion forward and less than practical clothing geared toward celebrity and socialite babies. Suri Cruise, who garnered media attention throughout the year in designer duds, is rumored to have worn more than $3 million dollars in clothes. The number might be shocking but I’m not surprised since mom Katie Holmes allegedly got her fitted for her very own Christian Louboutin heels, making Suri the very first child to strut the sidewalk in the designer’s coveted heels. Excessive yes, a little disturbing yes but totally adorable. What little girl doesn’t want to play dress up? You might ask how one little girl who can be spoiled beyond belief when children go hungry at night all over the world. That’s an answer I’m not equipped to answer.

Purple magazine paid tribute to children’s couture in its December issue with an editorial spread titled We Don’t Need No Education,” shot by photographer Ryan McGinley and styled by styled by Panos Yiapanis.
